Brow LiftThere’s no avoiding the ageing process completely, it is something that everyone has to deal with at some point. However, there are things you can do to reduce the appearance of ageing and to improve the overall appearance of your face. One of the most popular ways of doing this is with a brow lift.

How Does a Brow Lift Work?

As skin ages it eventually loses its elasticity and firmness, and this is what causes us to look older. Skin losing its elasticity and firmness is something that happens naturally over time, as the skin eventually stops producing everything it needs to continue looking its best. However, this may be sped up by things such as smoking and a lot of time spent in the sun. Luckily, a brow lift can go a long way towards improving facial appearance and reducing the signs of ageing. It raises the tissue and skin of the brows. This reduces the amount of sagging and drooping that skin undergoes. When this is reduced, the face looks younger and fresher.

Recovery and Aftercare

There are two ways a brow lift can be performed, either under local or general anaesthetic. The route the surgeon takes will depend on the procedure that you are having and it’s something that will be discussed with you prior to the procedure. All in all, a brow lift takes between one and two hours. You wont need an overnight hospital stay, but you will need to take some time off from work. After a brow lift, you will experience some swelling and bruising. Once the bandages have been removed you will not be able to resume normal activities right away. There are also some long term aftercare recommendations to take into consideration. These are all things that will be discussed with the surgeon beforehand.

You may have heard of a brow lift being referred to as a ‘forehead lift’ and these are the same procedure.
